Optional Notifications on Content Update

While using Vyew with my team the last couple of days I found that I really wanted some way to be notified when someone posted a new chat message. 

What I’d like to be able to do is log into our meeting room and minimize the window when things die down a bit.  However, if someone posts a question at a later point I’d like a simple notification that this occured.

For an example of the type of alert that would be perfect, please see Google’s new calendar application and the reminders it provides when one of your events is coming up.  Very nice.

I’m surprised no one responded to, or even agreed to this.

One of vyew’s selling points is that you make content available over time. It therefore makes sense that if the content changes, the users of the book will get notified. I have posted sticky note comments but when users reply to those comments, and I am not logged in, then shouldn’t I be notified about them?

This is important functionality!

Yep, I’m in complete agreement with this. In fact, I just spent quite some time trying to find the option to alert users to my new comments, assuming that it was a basic option.

Instead I have to email the user(s) manually, which seems a bit incongruous with this otherwise fantastic service.

(haha - just noticed that this forum has an option below to notify me when someone replies - just copy the code? ;) )

John and Curt, sorry no one responded to this.
You both are 100% correct this functionality is vital to make Vyew usable in the real world.
It has been on our todo list forever. We built a sticky note summary page so you can view a summary of new comments made… then the next step was to attach a notification system to that page.

I will check in with the engineers to see the status of this and push the notifications up our todo list.
