The current default pen thickness is px 5 which looks too thick to me for teaching purpose. Px 2 looks good for this purpose. I would suggest either px 2 to be the default thickness or if there are other more important reasons to keep px 5 as the default thickness then the system should remember the last used thickness for the user and when next time the user logs in, it automatically shows the previous choice of thickness.
