Vyew Releases Vyew Version 3.0
BERKELEY, Calif. – September 15, 2008 – Vyew, a leading provider of browser-based visual-collaboration and web-conferencing software, today announced the release of Vyew 3.0. Vyew 3.0 improves the experience of web conferencing and visual collaboration with contextual discussions, voice comments, webcam support and other communication enhancements.
Vyew 3.0 is the only conferencing and collaboration platform selected and profiled in the “Collaboration” category in a PC World article, “25 Best Business Software Tools and Web Services,” published on September 7, 2008: http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/150091/25_best_business_software_tools_and_web_services.html. A video demonstration of Vyew 3.0 is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKtxL8I7aWs
Vyew 3.0 uniquely combines all aspects of web conferencing, desktop sharing, real-time and always-on collaboration on any digital content in one workspace. It requires no software installation so that it can be accessed from any Windows, Macintosh or Linux computer with any browser. Collaborators can enter a meeting with one click on a meeting link. You can try Vyew 3.0 for free at http://www.vyew.com.
“Finding new ways to improve collaboration is the key to achieving higher worker productivity and quality. Workspaces that blend real-time, asynchronous and visual collaboration such as Vyew are addressing customer needs for easier and faster communication and coordination in context to take collaboration to the next level,” said Mark Levitt, VP, Collaborative Computing, IDC.
Vyew Version 3.0 includes these new features:
• Searchable Contextual Sidebar Forums – Enable collaborators to have a textual discussion alongside content and visually pinpoint the source of the discussion. Comments can be filtered by user, date and flag.
• Voice Comments – Provide a new medium for collaborators to participate in addition to text comments.
• Application Programming Interface (API) – Allows single-user Flash applications to be uploaded to Vyew and converted to multi-user collaborative applications.
• Webcam support – Conference participants can broadcast live video of themselves to the other conference participants.
• Voice over IP (VoIP) – Presenters can speak through their computer microphones to others in a meeting by clicking the “Push To Talk” button in Vyew. Other meeting participants hear the presenter through their computer speakers or headphones.
• Private Chat Groups – Two or more participants can text-chat separately from the group.
• Quiz and Poll Creator – A tool for creating true/false, multiple-choice and text-input quizzes and polls and for displaying results in graph form.
• User Statuses – Conference participants can click on buttons such as “Raise Hand” when they have a question and “Slow Down” notifying the presenter that he or she is going too fast.
“Vyew’s API was an important factor in our decision to select Vyew as our platform for web-based collaborative courseware applications required by our corporate and government clients,” said Don Holmes, CEO of Imedia.it. “Our extensive evaluation of visual-collaboration platforms clearly established Vyew as the leading instant workspace for ease of use, security and features.”
Vyew 3.0 supports the widest range of user and organizational preferences for price, security and administrative control. Vyew’s three hosted services range from free to $19.95 per user per month and Vyew also provides enterprise licensing for larger organizations. For organizations that require high data security, integration with enterprise systems such as single sign-on and enhanced user administration and usage reporting, Vyew provides Vyew Enterprise Appliance, a 1U rack-mounted appliance and enterprise control panel for installation and hosting in an organization’s information-systems environment.
Vyew 3.0 supports the widest range of content in a collaboration platform. Users can upload Microsoft Office, Adobe .pdf, text, graphic, audio and video content. Vyew also provides screen capture so there is no concern about getting content from any application into Vyew. Vyew also includes desktop sharing for demonstrating directly from a user’s workstation and for remote support.
“The release of Vyew 3.0 is a significant milestone for Vyew and for the collaboration industry because it is a mature product for both synchronous and asynchronous collaboration,” said Henry Hon, CEO of Vyew. “The enhancements that Vyew introduced were customer-driven and reflect the needs of our broad base of users in industries such as education and training, marketing, architecture, graphic and industrial design.”

Vyew gets Voice and Video
Now with Vyew you are able to broadcast your voice and webcam. Additionally, you offer all other collaborators in your meeting to also broadcast their webcam at the same time, and speak into their microphone.
When to use “SYNC MODE”
One of the challenges we had in building the Vyew interface was creating a space where users could work together, or work apart, on the same document. That’s what we call “synchronous” and “asynchronous.”
Each VyewBook has a SYNC MODE setting. It can be turned ON or OFF.

When SYNC MODE is ON — Every user sees the same thing on their screen, as every other users. That means when a user changes pages, scrolls, or zooms in, everyone will also see that exact portion of the VyewBook.
When SYNC MODE is OFF (Un-Sync Mode) — When a user changes pages, zooms, or scrolls, it only affects their own screen, not anyone elses. This is useful when users would like to create content or read on different VyewBook pages.
When should I use SYNC MODE?
* During a presentation. You are in the room with a few other people, and you want them see exactly what you are seeing.
* During a discussion/meeting with other team members.
* When you don’t want viewers to browse the VyewBook on their own.
When should I turn SYNC MODE OFF (Un-Sync Mode)?
* When 2 or more people are marking/reviewing the same VyewBook.
* When you want to allow viewers to browse the VyewBook on their own.
About Default Sync Modes:
Each VyewBook gives you the option of keeping the VyewBook on a certain Sync Mode after you leave the VyewBook. During the course of a meeting, you may turn Sync Mode ON or OFF several times, so it may be useful to assure a VyewBook resets back to a certain Sync Mode when you are done.

When would I default a VyewBook to SYNC MODE ON?
* When the VyewBook is strictly used for presentations and meetings, and you don’t want viewers who come early to a meeting to be able to browse all the pages.
When would I default a VyewBook to SYNC MODE OFF (Un-Sync Mode)?
* When the VyewBook is used as a notebook, scrapbook, or document for collaboration/review. This would keep users who come into it, from bumping into eachother or getting in eachothers way when changing pages.
* When you specifically want Viewers to be able to browser pages in the VyewBook.
Vyew Syncs Live Web Conferencing and Asynchronous Collaboration for Creating, Managing, and Interact
BERKELEY, Calif. – June 12, 2007 – Vyew, which recently emerged out of Beta, introduces version 2.5, one of the first online applications to fuse both live meeting and asynchronous collaboration capabilities to improve content collaboration, online meetings, and workflow. It is ideal for a wide range of users, from independent professionals to small businesses and workgroups.
With Vyew 2.5, people can create VyewBooks to share, present, and interact with other people around all forms of content such as Microsoft Office files, pictures, audio and video. Tools to create new presentations are also included within the suite. Participants can also share their desktop view for live sharing of files, images, and Web sites. The new version also enables people to print VyewBooks.
VyewBooks are now also portable in 2.5 with the addition of an embeddable Vyewlet generator. Vyewlets are read-only VyewBooks which can be posted outside of Vyew - directly in blog posts, Web sites, social networks, and any online page - to create dynamic, multimedia presentations to engage viewers. If and when a Vyewlet needs to be updated, it can be done so inside Vyew with changes pushed live to the Vyewlet via an RSS-like mechanism.
Vyew is business-ready, allowing companies to customize the browser-based application to reflect their corporate branding and ID. Vyew is also introducing Multi-Language support for Asian, Cyrillic, and Arabic keyboard characters. This broadens Vyew’s functionality for globally dispersed teams.
“Software’s migration to an online platform is facilitating new relationships between people and content,” said Henry Hon, CEO. “Vyew isn’t just another WebEx or GotoMeeting where information is communicated in a canned one-to-many format. Vyew is an enterprise-class social computing platform where people can also create, share, and participate with rich content in a many-to-many relationship, both in real-time and asynchronously over time.”
Vyew is available for free and is supported by light advertising. Businesses can enjoy ad-free, customizable versions of the service, with subscription prices starting as low as $6.95 per month.
Vyew allows unlimited sessions. Vyew also gives subscribers unique flexibility with Overflow Participants, an industry first, which allows extra real-time participant expansion for live conferences – at no additional charge. Subscribers can also choose to set-up a Custom Room ID for quick, easy-to-remember access to their sessions: For example, http://www.vyew.com/username.
